VI TRANSATLANTIC CONFERENCE AT BROWN UNIVERSITY / Call for papers

VI TRANSATLANTIC CONFERENCE AT BROWN UNIVERSITY (Dedicated to Ruth J. Simmons) April 10-14th, 2012 Transatlantic Poetics (Towar d a Cr oss-Cultur al Syntax) The Transatlantic Project at Brown University welcomes abstracts on cultural practices that configure an Atlantic syntax. Topics include: contacts, negotiations, re-appropriations; new formats and artifacts; practices of exchange, production, and circulation; as well as translation and transatlantic triangulations. This poetics in progress opens spaces of articulation and debate between Europe, the United States, and Latin America. The conference is especially interested in, but not limited to, papers on Africa in Cuba; the international detective novel; and Spanish between regional and native languages. Other transatlantic issues (from cross-cultural theory to technologies and material culture) and readings (from the international Modernism to the XXI Century arts and literature) are also welcome.
